Liturgy

God created the world with His Word, and in him mankind in His image and likeness. He seeks us with his word and calls us to be part of the community with his Word. Since God’s creation, we have witnessed the dialogue between man and God. We invite our guests and visitors to join this dialogue with us.

According to Gergely Czuczor, the word “zsoloszma” (Liturgy of Hours) comes from the Greek word command.
In addition to Mass, Liturgy of Hours is the official prayer of the Church.
In each prayer of the Liturgy of Hours ( matins, laudes, midday prayer , vespers, compline) we pray psalms and biblical hymns. There’s a special space in the psalm for individual pleading, thanksgiving. The Psalm book was the prayer book of Jesus Christ, where a psalm verse was proclaimed by him as his last prayer on the cross.
The holy Liturgy of Hours is by all means the sanctification of time. Several Old Testament examples (e.g. the book of Daniel, the Book of Psalms) and the Tradition practices of the first Christians (Acts, Didache) encourage several daily prayers to set the rhythm of spiritual life. The cantor and the community sing the verses in answer to each other, thus displaying the dialogue between the Creator and the creatures.

Instructions for the Liturgy:

The psalm is accompanied by simple but very expressive movements: we stand up, bow to the glory of God, and then sit back. The rhythm of psalmody can be easily picked up.
We highly suggest to arrive a few minutes before the liturgy of Hours begins in order to receive some information from the brothers on how it is structured, page numbers and other related stuff.
If a larger group comes to liturgies, it is practical to be already well informed and prepared to provide them with texts and seats.
When Holy Mass takes place on weekday evenings, vespers are carried out as part of Mass starting at 17.00. It takes about 60 minutes.
The daily noon pray is followed by 15-20 minutes of quiet meditation, which is carried out individually but in a common space in the church. It is possible to reflect on the word of the Lectio for the meditation, or for instance the Prayer of Jesus as well as according to each individual practice of graciousness. Leaving between midday prayer and meditation it is conceivable, but if you stay for meditation, please stick to remaining quietly in the church in order to not disturb others .
For reasons beyond our control our daily schedule may change from time to time. Please keep an eye on the news exposed on the noticeboard as well as asking the monks for more details.
